At 2,550 feet, Altezia is the highest vineyard site on Mt. Veeder and one of the highest in all of Napa Valley. This dramatic site, influenced by the AVA’s elevation and close proximity to the San Pablo Bay, features significantly cooler days and warmer evenings than the Napa Valley floor. As a result, the growing season is extended and grapes ripen without over-accumulating sugar, making for superbly balanced wines with youthful vibrancy, energy and the Mt. Veeder hallmarks of granular tannins and minerality. The name “Altezia” means elevation and comes from the fourth official language of Switzerland known as Romansh, spoken by 1% of its population.
“You can’t deny the DNA of the Altezia Vineyard. You have to respect it because it is greater and more powerful than you are. If you don’t understand the personality of this site, you’re going to fail every time.”
